My 2000 ZR2 Blazer Nightmare
#11
I get your headaches and wonders. It's a mutual feeling q all get lol. Mine hasn't broken me yet, ONLY because I do most work myself. If I would've paid a mechanic to do the work, I would easily be about 6g out. And for paying 1200-1400, I would've moved on by now... but shes been with me through ups and down for the last couple of years, and shes been holding up sp far. My biggest problem at the moment is getting out of the habit of what I can afford for now... it's not being worth it in the end lol.

It seems like you have addressed most of the common issues with Blazers. Be sure to do the periodic maintenance on the engine, drive train and suspension. This will prevent other problems later. The basic design is a great one. For me, losing the engine would be my deal-killer and I would get rid of it. Everything else I can think of that could fail is either something I could deal with or has been addressed. I had the transmission rebuilt a few years ago and I replaced the lower intake manifold gaskets two years ago. Besides the engine failing, I guess there could be problems with my transfer case and rear axle but I do preventative maintenance on them so I'm hoping that will preclude any early death on their parts. Fingers-Crossed!
