My guages arent working in my gauge cluster i need help
So reinstalled my head unit today and noticed that my mph, rpm, fuel gauges arent working as with my mileage and gear selector lights arent working either....... I checked fuses and none of the are burnt so im stuck and really need help
i took out the radio and checked for exposed wires and none of the fuse were blown..... so i found out today my cluster went bad.... i ordered another another cluster with 65000 miles on it and my truck has 117000.... when i hook up my guages will i get the mileage that was showinh on my old cluster or the new cluster mileage im putting in????? if so how would i get that fixed to the proper mileage
I think replacing the cluster before doing more tests was a little hasty. I'll admit a little stupidity here...I thought something was wrong with my gauges..then I rotated the dimmer wheel on the panel.
I'm currently having the same problem.
I know you're always supposed to take off the negative battery cable when doing electrical work, but I was at school at the time with limited tools, bad weather, and I got lazy. I was installing a new stereo also. When I plugged in the wiring harnesses, things flickered, snapped, crackled, and popped until 2 of my fuses blew. If I remember correctly one was for the radio and the other was for the dash/illumination or something. Also, I had known at the time that it was about time to replace my battery.
What I didn't realize is that I was in the car with the dome light on for way too long, and when I went to start the car when I squared everything away, the battery didn't have the power. I got a jump the following day and started the car, but then an hour later the battery was totally dead. I replaced the battery, replaced the fuses, and now I've got illumination, radio is working, and the tach, speed, and volts gauges are working, but the fuel and temp gauges are not. In fact, the low fuel light is constantly on.
Any suggestions? I'm going to try and take a closer look at it tomorrow.
