Question my poor 96 blazer

so my alternator went bad changed it new one went out three days later thats fixed so i left for work im coming down a hill in third hear a pop still running i try an shift to take of as i normally would. it wouldn't move then i realize itll go into any gear without the clutch doesn't grind nothing what is that but with all that lost my key so i gotta change the tumbler cause itll start just dont want everyone to be able to get it an go. my biggest ? at the moment is if i change the tumbler will i have to do anything to get it to start were its been changed i know some newer trucks will have to be reset to start will mine.
