Need to Do Brake Job on 01 Blazer
I need to do a brake job on my 2001 blazer 2wd. Can anyone help me with an online DIY that will show me how to do it on this car. Also, can anyone help me with a list of things I will need.
Thanks... |

Hanyes manual from your local autoparts store, and I believe Autozone has the instructions on-line.
Things you will need. Brake shoes (would help to know if this is the fronts or backs). Rotors. Brake cleaner. Brake compression tool. Jack and jack stand. torque wrench. Basic hand tools to remove the caliper, and caliper bracket. Brake grease. Anti-Seize. Couple rags. and a couple brewskies. |

Welcome to the forum.
A little more info would help, like front or rear, disc or drum. |

Take apart only ONE brake at a time. At some point during the job, you will need to check the assembly on the other side of the car to confirm that you are putting things in the right places. This is especially truw with drum brakes.
And yes, get a shop manual and read it before starting. |

as far as a brake compression tool goes i just use a 2x4 and c-clamp, if you tighten it down all the way before putting the caliper on it works just fine. at least as far as front brakes goes, not sure bout backs, never done them before.

I believe the brake compression tool is cheaper then the c-clamp.

the c-clamp may be more expensive but i already have one so it didnt really cost anything. if you dont have one go for the cheaper i say.
