Default need engine...

ok well did headgaskets and intake gaskets not to long ago (about two weeks ago) and niw the bottom end has a knock. which is to be expected i guess cause the truck has almost 300 thousand miles on it. was hopeing to get more than two weeks outta it but o well. i think the oil pump went due to lack of preasure, but any the truck is a 97 and was wonder what year engines will fit it i found a good deal on a 2000 with 40 thousand miles and a 98 with 80 thousand but idk wich one will work

They will both work for you, no problem, But with that being said is yours a 4wd or 2wd? As the 2wd engine has a different oil pan and oil pump pick-up tube. But could be changed out easy. Go with the less miles engine, but if Dollars are the Issue do what is best. Good Luck with the change and keep us informed . T.J.

got one more thing for now when i go do do this what all needs to come off the front grill radiator condensor what bout the bumper. i dont think it would need to come off just asking.

i know the use of my lift would make workin on the underneath alot easier but my truck will probally still be on it by than so guess back to the concrete floor lol. got the cab in the air so i could do extensive engine mods to my diesel pickup but havent had time to work on it lately.

Nope keep front on, but the Radiator needs to come out. You can lay the AC compressor off to the side so as you do not loose the charge in the system. Good Luck T.J.
