Need Fuel Pump Help
Alright............7 months ago I had my fuel pump replaced (AC Delco) as well as the underhood fuse block. Last week, I went to start the Blazer and the fuel pump was not coming on. Towed to the shop, started fine. Couple days later, the same thing but this time the shop could not get it going. Took it apart, and found the pump was bad. Replaced FP. Got in Blazer this morning, fuel pump did not come on. STRANDED AGAIN!!! Whats going on? I have no "jump post" on my truck to test the power to the pump, so it's back to the shop I guess. I have replaced the fp 3 times now. Cant keep it going long enough to sell. Thanks for the help. The first time they ran pressure test, so I am guessing that part is ok. Pump is just not coming on when the key is put into ignition and turned to second position. Sounds electrical to me, but I am no pro.

If you are burning up fuel pumps that quickly then your problem is likely low voltage going to the pump.
Replacing the fuel pump relay and checking all connections to the pump should be your first step.
The second step should be checking the connections to the pump.
If you drop the spare tire you should be able to get at the wiring harness for the pump easily enough. Wiggle the wires around a bit and then turn the key and see if your pump turns on. If it does then you may have a faulty connector to the pump or other short in the harness.

most problems ive had liek this are related to poor wiring. I had a repetative problem on my old grand prix because my fuel pump relay in the fuse box kept wiggling around and giving a ****ty connection.
I would first check the relay connectors and such for corrosion. Then check the wiring and connection to the pump itself.

Since the wiring and fuseblock are all brand new (at least at the fuse block) I am leaning toward the low voltage thing or possibly a bad ground. The pigtail at the pump is new too. Gotta be electrical though. I wiggled the wires at the pump too, and nothing. Just sick of this. This is pump #4 !!!!!

Nice to hear from you swartlkk !! I tried that thinking that might be the problem. It didn't work. I have noticed recently though that the ignition sometimes sticks. Think thats where the issue may be? And by the way, I have a new mechanic from the last time we went through this.
The key will stick or the ignition will stay contacted?? Either way, something is messed up... If the key sticks, it could just be the ignition cylinder freezing up in which case, some graphite might help. If it is the ignition switch, then you are likely just looking at a replacement.
It sticks and sometimes I have to giggle the stearing wheel to get it to turn. Kinda like it's in a locked position, but this never happened in the 7 years I have had the truck. Time for an electrical specialist?
