My buddy is having trouble with his 2001 ZR2 Blazer.

Have you noticed any electrical get wet? Does it have any power when raining? Does it crank and not start? I think there's some more info needed to get a better idea what we are working with...

I'm not sure if he noticed any electrical getting wet. I'll ask him. It does have power when it's wet - Everything seems to work fine. It cranks over but doesn't even try to fire.

Its fuel, spark, timing or air.

First do the fuel pressure test in the sticky at the top of the second gen forum. Key on pressure and leakdown at the schrader valve. Retest while cranking.

If that's OK then test for spark on at least two plug wires at the plug ends while cranking

If that's OK then we move on to fuel injector pulses and timing

Do you have a scanner with live data capability?

Have you tried to force the symptoms by spaying water from a hose on different parts of it.

If the individual components are good, then I'd look at shorts in the wiring harness. If the insulation is damaged, if wet, you could get a short.

What GeorgeLC says....
But also check the wiring harness going to the ECM/ECU for damage.
