Default Need Quick Help About to buy 97 blazer 84k $1600

Ok im driving and see a 97 blazer with 84k being sold for $2250 buy an older couple whos husband did all the maintenance, they said they would take $1850 after bargaininh they very willingly let me take it to a shop everything checked out except $600-700 in suspension work pickman arm and 2 other things also a/c was overcharged. So she said $1700 is the lowest they would go. Then her husband tried working on the a/c and messed up the presssure so she said she could take it to get fixed monday or take $100 off the car so now its $1600 and with the suspension work and ac service im lookin at 2300.

Is this a good deal? Last thing the mechanic also showed me a clicking noise when shifting the gear shifter, like a little louder than normal, like from park to drive or reverse to neutral. he said I might need to worry about this but he said he would still buy the car he also said it may be something loose should i worry about this?

Thanks for your opinions guys remember 97 2- door only 84,000 miles

Have looked at the prices of Blazers recently? That is a great price IMO. At 84,000 miles I doubt $600-$700 worth of suspension work is needed. Maybe an Idler arm. I own a 97 Blazer 4x4. They are great rigs.

I just turn 100K on my 2000 Lt 4x4, 4.3 and my wife would shoot me if I tried to get rid of it. Think now of converting it to electric fans instead of the HP hog loud fan that kicks on around 195-200 degrees, it robs the HP big time and sounds like a jet when it kicks it (I just replace it with a heavy duty one, the old lasted almost to 100K) but now thinking of electric fans, I've seen the kits run for around 250.00 with shipping included.

anyone else how bout the tranny thing:

Ok so when you shift from park to drive, Theres a click and kind of a shake, It just shifts into park drive or reverse im not sure which it is but it seems a little harder than normal. I had a pre-sale inspection and the mechanic said the was his only concern, but the car only has 84k and he said it shouldnt be a problem to soon and its probly something in the tranny loose. Does this sound like signs of a trannsmission problem? Are the 97 2 dr 4wd blazers trannys known to be bad? Thanks.

Sounds like a good deal and I've never heard of anyone having much problem with the transmission and i'm assuming the click is normal and what do you mean by a shake?

I'd buy it for 1600. Even if the transmission went kaput in the future, you can get one from the wreckers for 100 bucks and change it yourself in a day. Its a good deal to me. I would buy it and if I didnt like it I would have it up for sale for 3000 and go buy myself a new rolling toolbox.
