Couldn't get the damn screw off the back side of the cap but I didn't have much patience Saturday morning when this was, the 5 and 3 plugs were both pretty gnarly and found out evidently at some point a previous owner had stripped the threads for the 3 cylinder plug just enough that it will not tighten 100%, FML

Maybe one of the other members can help you get sorted, best of luck

Sorry I don't have the tools/instruments to perform the tests you're wanting me to do...

I know that money can be tight but if you want to fix your own truck you will need these two things to get started:

Amazon Amazon

and basic live data capability:

Ok should have access to a snap on device for diagnostics this evening, heading to AutoZone to check fuel pressure before anything else though! Truck is getting progressively worse in regards to the sputtering/ poor accel. Was only throwing cyl 5 misfire code before but now sometimes it'll say cyl 6 sometimes 3 sometimes the random code comes up. Assuming the fuel pressure is a non-issue, what all should I look for/test for when I've got the snap-on scanner?

When you do fuel pressure do the 10 min leakdown test.

If you have repeated access to the scanner then do the maf test i outlined. If this is a one and done deal let me know and ill give you a comprehensive list.

Didn't have the 170 bucks the ****ers at AutoZone wanted to use the fuel pressure tester, replaced the cap and rotor after removing them last night and seeing the condition they were in... Truck ran way better.... For the first 10 minutes cylinder 3 misfire popping up now, double checked cap and rotor are tight, no excess noise coming from them or anything.
Maybe this is my biggest clue so far, the truck runs quite well until just before it's up to temp then instantly, I'm guessing when switching to closed loop fuel system, starts running like crap again, sputtering and sluggish and can't put my foot into it much without it stalling and cutting out. Should I test the icm and 02 sensors?
Forget to mention my friend never showed up with the nice scanner so haven't been able to get any real performance data just yet

UPDATE: on the way home just now the truck gave me a camshaft sensor MIL guess I'll be getting one of those in the near future 🫪

These trucks are very sebsitive to low fuel pressure which is why we almost always start with the 10 min fuel pressure leak down test. It needs to be done

When you get a code about a sensor, you don't actually know what's wrong yet. It may be the sensor but it can also be the power to the sensor, the wiring, the ECM, the sensor correctly reporting an out of bounds condition due to something else, etc. Just replacing sensors every time you get a code may actually be making things worse because you may be replacing a perfectly good AC Delco part with a crappy aftermarket part.

Alright y'all ready for the fix!?
Never gonna live this one down....any guesses? Anyone?
My dumbass didn't even check the plug wires thoroughly at any point during this venture, well guess which cylinder wire was almost flippin severed in two? Ding ding ding cyl 3!!! The misfiring bastard mystery that I overcomplicated and overlooked the simplest damn thing. Go ahead and let me have it, I get what I deserve 🫪🤡

Truck runs super smooth and no codes since replacing wire set, damn me 🙃
