If key on, engine off pressure is below 60psi, it's not a grey area, it's bad Might want to check voltage and ground at the pump module connector. If the ignition switch isn't supplying power properly, you can end up with the same results. If it ends up needing a fuel pump, use AC Delco or Delphi only.

 

yea i imagina its kinda like the blower fan on my heater is currently, ya gotta shove a stick in it and spin the prop. i picked up an el cheapo unit new for $125 no brand name on the box but oriellys wanted 280 for an airtex and 380 for delphi. also said theyre phasing out airtex brand and bringing in a brand called progressive i think he said which i assume is airtex after some restructuring but who knows

 

Check fuel pressure and leakdown again after you install it. Aftermarket pumps, (other than Delco & Delphi) don't last in these things, and sometimes don't make it out of the box!

 

man what a hassel, but its done and running, the pump i got had a square plug the one that came out was flat, so now its got 2 sets of spliced wires, sure wished id have noticed that before getting it halfway back in. an of course the new pump didnt come with a wire harness and i had just sold the jetta the day before thinking ill have this job done in no time, also happened to be blizzard conditions that day so im driving across town in a turbo shelby daytona with bald front tires(for obvious reasons) and collector plates to get a $13 wiring harness from napa. moral of story PLAN AHEAD and thanks for all the help guys blazer fires right up now

 

Uh oh. You didn't use a genuine AC Delco or Delphi pump. The square connectors are inferior and out dated. They heat up, melt, and cause an open circuit to the pump motor, usually without warning and you go nowhere, instantly. The flat connector has been in use for several years. You'll be back in there doing the job again
