New blazer owner
I own a 2004 Toyota Tacoma that is a great truck but want something more comfortable to get around LA in. When I mentioned this to my friend he tossed me the key to his wife's 2002 2 dr LS and said " take it, she hates it". When I drove away I knew two things. Why GM had to be bailed out and the reason behind Blazer hate. What a squeaky plastic piece of falling apart junk that ran great and was a comfortable chick - mom mini SUV.
After about a thousand miles I started to see some potential in the thing but only if I could put an end to the squeaking plastic interior. This weekend I tore into the aft left side. Removed the upper and lower panels. Cut the upper into two pieces, applied peel and stick felt to every spot where the panel contacts the body and other panels. Repaired the broken plastic, added some screws and Velcro to pull things together. Presto new flipping auto. All squeaks on the left side are gone.
When I put in a new carpet I'll do the same to the right side and post some photos and details. Bottom line is it can be done and when done it is a major improvement. Major !
Question: Who knows where I can get an original cover for the interior mounted spare tire and a good carpet kit ?
Also, the ride is too soft. Anybody have a good shock setup for a two wheel drive street Blazer ?

For carpets I have bought from NAPA. They are priced about average, give you a couple pf price options if I remember. What is a soft ride on a 2wd? I run NAPA response gas shocks on my 4x4 Blazer with 6 ply tires run @ 36psi. I run a lot of off-road. So I want a good ride with my shocks geared towards handling on wash board & gravel roads @ 60+ mph. The best off road shock I ever ran that was not pricey was the older Rancho 5000s. I don't even think they made the 5000s anymore.

Blazerguy,
LS = lousy suspension. LA = poor roads and freeways that are falling apart. Not as rough as what you're into but getting closer by the day.
We also have speed humps that are like a speed bump but not as bad. In my Tacoma I hit em at 25 to 30 mph and it's a bump. If I try that in the Blaze my dogs or passengers are gonna hit the ceiling at least once. I know nothing about suspension systems.
I'll check on the shocks and carpet. Thanks for the lead.
