Ok now i just put a new engine it was bought as a long block so i had to transfer all tins and stuff like that from the old motor to the new one. we got it all put together right and put back in the truck its a 96 blazer s-10 4.3 v6 with the w type motor. now we tried to start it and you can hear it sound like it wants to start we get a few little explosions in the motor but it wont start and run. is there anything i need to do to the computer like reset it or clear any codes an see if it gives me new ones or is there something i should try to make this thing work??? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thank you!!!!!

Is the distributer in properly? Engine TDC, Rotor pointing at #1 cylinder plug wire, etc? If so, you could be 180 degrees off (could have been TDC of exhaust stroke instead of compression).
Just my guess.

when i got the engine the timing sprokets were lined up and i have a haynes book that says to line the rotor up between the #6 and the #1 on the distributor cap so than i called the dealer ship an asked a mechanic and he said to point it at the #6 on the distributor and there should be a white dot on top tellin u were to point it. so on the distributor you have to follow the terminals comin off the numbers on the cap on the underside to see where the actual contact is an the white dot was right between the 6 an the 1 terminal so we lined it up with that and we assumed that was right because on the top side the number 5 is inbetween the 1 and the 6. but also im not sure how its supposed to sound when it fires right i dont know if its supposed to be like rhythmatic like pop pop pop or pop skip pop skip it kinda sounded like it wanted to backfire. if i could draw a diagram i would because the description in the book was hard to understand i didnt think it meant under the cap i wasnt sure. i still aint sure it could be off i jus wanna get it started and make sure it runs right pls help

It sounds like it is either 180 degrees off or it is simply too far out of timing.

Damn, $2500. That is why I decided not to replace the engine in my '91. I bought it for $300 and it looks like crap. Still runs but needs a new engine. These guys warned me how much it would be. I ended up buying a newer Blazer. Congrats on doing it yourself!! That is a butt-load of work!

I agree-totally worth it then. Mine wasn't . The engine would've outlasted the body, plus I woul have had to pay somebody to do it.
