Default New member-2001 blazer wont start plleeease help

I just bought a 2001 blazer 3 days ago, ran great no issues, next day wont start. At first it didnt even make a sounds or light up at all..after spending hours looking for a reason, replaced the ignition starter switch, it trys to start but wont turn over. the fuel pump sounds like it kicks in, almost started once after using starting fluid, but shut right off due to lack of power/fuel. Fuel pump is apparently new, but not the filter, relays are good, battery good, running out of ideas for what it could be. I dont know chevys to well, i have only owned one for 24 hours, but it has stumped everyone that has looked at it. PLEASE-- what are possibilities for the problem causer? Thanks![sm=boohoo.gif]

If it started (however briefly) on starting fluid, then you have air & spark... You need fuel, air, & spark for an engine to run. I would recommend that you either find someone with a fuel pressure test guage or purchase one from your local autoparts store ($30-40) and test the fuel pressure. The fuel pressure test port is on the fuel line behind the throttle body closer to the driver's side valve cover. You should see a little plastic cap that kind of resembles a tire valve stem cap. Remove that and thread on the lead from your fuel pressure test gauge. You should read 55-60psi at key-on.

Thank you, I have so many people saying its one thing or another...if the pressure is lower than what it should read, should i try replacing the fuel pump filter at all?

You could give it a try, but typically, even a restrictive fuel filter will allow the pump to properly prime the fuel system after a few tries.

I doubt it, I would check the fuel pressure like swartlkk said. Another thing is to make sure there isnt a bunch of corrosion on the battery terminals (meaning take them off and clean them with a wire brush and the battery terminals, then snugly reattach).

I went out to my truck one day and it wouldnt start, I had a good battery and all couldnt figure it out, then I decided to clean up the terminals even though they didn't look that bad and then connected it back up and everything worked right away and has ever since. Its just a thought and worth a try since it is free.

Apparently when u turn the key, there is not spark now. I dist. cap is good .I have been reading tons of forums with posted inssues identical to mine...guessing its a chevy thing

Ok, I guess I may have misinterpreted your statement on the starting fluid to mean that it ran on starting fluid, but shut off as soon as you stopped supplying starting fluid.. Did you mean that it caught once or twice on starting fluid?

If so, it could be the ignition module which is located in front of the coil to the passenger side of the throttle body. You can take this and the coil to your local Advanced or Autozone and have them tested for proper operation.

I replaced the ignition mod. the other day but i am starting to think it may bethe fuel kill switch or what ever it is called, the dealer lost all the keyless entry/alarm things to the car, it has an engine kill system, and is always blinking "security" whether its locked or unlocked with out arming the car..this occured to me after i had it towed to a shop of course
