Default new rear brakes smoke!!!

Last night I replaced the rear brakes, and took the blazer out for a test drive. When I got home the drivers side rear tire was smoking, and it smelt like a burnt clutch…. So this morning I took everything back apart, and everything looks like fine… the only thing I noticed is when I had it in neutral I couldn’t spin the tires, but I pistons in the clappers went back in nicely, and I don’t see how they could be locked up… I guess the only thing I dint do was adjust the e-brake, but the rotor slid on nice to… ??? I’m kind lost someone want to explain to me what’s going on???

I’m starting to get a little frustrated with this dam blazer seems like I find something wrong with it everyday!!!! the engine also now want to die when its first started , clues on what that could be would also be nice… because I’m a little stumped on that…

Do the slides and pins look good and are they greased well? Also did you wash the new rotors well before using them?

I second that. New rotors off the shelf have a bit of a film on them that you have to clean off with brake cleaner. If not, you get smoke when you brake.

At least I did when I didn't know better and just threw on some new ones without cleaning them.

I 2nd the sliders. Check them out and make sure they slide very nice and are greased well. If they do not, just get a new caliper bracket (cheap enough) and the pin/boot kit.

Well I’m having another problem when I was bleeding out the brakes I noticed every time I hit the brakes the engine start to stutter and lose rpm’s and it almost dies… it also does this when u rev up the engine and let it idle down… and now I have water coming out of my muffler and exhaust…
At this point I’m getting very frustrated!!!

The brake booster is powered from vacuum supplied by the engine. If you have a leaking booster, it can cause a large vacuum leak. I have seen some leak only when the brakes were applied while others leaked all of the time.

You should not have to have your engine running to bleed the brakes.

How much water are you talking??

Well I wont lie I feel pretty dumb, turns out I put the calipers on the wrong sides making them so they were upside down.. To be honest I thought they were the universal, but I guess I know differently now… feel free to poke fun at me now… lol
