Hi,
I have had my blazer for a few years now but just found this site. Let me start by saying I love the truck but it has been nothing but a maintenance hog since I've owned it. My latest problem is that according to a mechanic the electrode on my spark plug broke off in the number one cylinder and screwed up the head and valve. Probably the cylinder too. Motor has 145K on it. I also blew the line to the remote oil filter a few months ago and lost all oil pressure. Fortunately shut it down right away but don't know what kind of other eternal damage I have. I want to replace the motor and am looking for a used one. What will work? I have been told that 96 and up won't work and neither will 94 and down. Is this true? Also been told that I need one with the flat style distributor which all 95s don't have. I swear I've found a million good 4.3s on ebay but not one that will work for mine. Any suggestions where I can get one?
Thanks in advance,
TOM

does your engine have "Vortec" in orange letters on the top? If so, then you have a CPI motor, CPI was used in some from 92-94, and then just about all 95 models. I thought that the blocks were all almost the same, with differences in the intake manifold and fuel injection system.

Welcome tot he site. Would help to know the year of your truck. But I am going to guess you have a '95. '95 is a strange bread from what I hear.
I don't see any reason why a new or older engine wouldn't work, as long as you got the wiring harness and puter that goes with it.
Anybody else????

Well, I put a 2000 engine and tranny in me 1997 Blazer! I just used me 97 wiring harness and computer and everything else. The 2000 wiring was different and did not fit my 97 wiring that goes inside the car. But the engine and tranny were identical!
I would just do more research and find out the differences between the engines trannys, mounts, and wiring differences.
Good luck
