Picked up an 00 blazer with 213xxx on it yesterday. Needed a shift cable and brakes. While swapping the cable out I came across this mess. Anyone have any idea what it is? Has a cluster of wires all taped into each other. One right into the computer.

That is not factory what every it is... might have to trace the wire back to the source, or see what pin out it comes out of the computer.

Is there a possibility it's a pass key override?

I have no idea... I had extra wires on my blazer, looked like it had to do with a trailer brake, but that's only in assumptions, as I didn't trace the wire anywhere lol... just going by screw marks on the bottom of the dash lol...

So it actually goes from the computer over to some wires under the dash, then up to the module that has the rear hatch controls on it.

I'm just not going to touch it, it runs and that's what I need it to do.

Changing shift linkage today.

Does it do anything when pushed? I'm wondering if the button for the window latch died, or the washer motor, and that might activate it?

I'm thinking maybe the wires had a short and they bypassed it or something. All of the buttons work and the wiper/sprayer/latch release work. Buy my dome lights stay on and it always says gate ajar on the dash.

Oh yeah and I hate wiring. Held the button down and the horn started going off. The horn doesn't work though, when used by the wheel. It's pretty odd.
