Two weeks ago I installed a new starter in my wifes 2001 S10 Blazer 4X4.
The starter works fine but the "service engine soon" light has been on ever since and the engine seens to be in limp mode.
I had to take the inner fender out ,on the passenger side ,in order to reach the 2 starter wires.
Does anyone have any idea what I could have done to cause this problem just by changing the starter?

No need to remove the inner fender to replace the starter... the PCM is mounted to the inner fender so something may have been disturbed. Most auto parts stores will retrieve the DTC's, (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) for free. Post them here, in the order they are retrieved, and we can help you.

Like Cap said, there is no need to remove the inner fender to get to the starter wires, you can get them from the wheel well, even with the tire on (just jack up the truck a bit to raise the suspension, and lift up the rubber "dust" flap. I was able to get one off, but had to drop the starter down to get at the other one, but either way, did not have to remove that.
Let us know what codes are thrown.
