Default No Brake No Tail Lights !

Hi !

My Blazer : 97 er Canada Import (for the German Market )

My Problem :

the top brake light is always on , the Taillight and the Brakelight are off !
( same Bulbs 12V 21/5 )

But this Problem is not always !

What i found out was ,,,during driving when i turn off the Seatheater ..all comes to normal and the Light are going on and the function of the Braklights are given and the taillight is working fine but when i turn on the Seatheater ,,,,i will have still the Problem ,,,Brake/Taillights no funktion only the TopBrakelight is lighting up the woods !!!

Hazardlight = works fine

Turning Light = works fine

e.g. = Motor is on ,,,,Lights are down ...the Brakelight is working when i tap the Pedal !

= Motor is on ,,,,Lights are on .....Brakelight/Taillight are off and the third Brakelight is on ...without tapping the Brakes !

so ,,what could it be ?????

Relay damaged or a short ...in the Fusebox ????

Thx ,,,,for helping !

X-Cuse me for my english,,,but i think i did my best !!! Greets from Germany !

Check for a bad ground as the seat heater is acting line a ground due to the heavy current is draws. Perhaps run a temporary ground wire from the (-) battery connection to one of the taillight housings to see if the lights start functioning normally. If they do, check for a bad ground connection - loose ground strap or etc. to the body.

Default It's Done

so ,,,i removed both Backlight Chassis and watched for the right socket for Backlight and Brakelight*s ,,i watched for burnt connectors ,,,and i found on each socket ,,,,inside dark brown/black spots ....i could see the spots ,,but not the wiring behind .....easy does it !!!!

i cut the black wire at the socket and made a wiring bridge and solded a wire to the bulb socket ( minus ) directly on both !!

and then ,, i started the Motor and turned on the lights ,,,,,,and ,,,,viva Las Vegas ,,,,all worked fine and the lights are working !!

temporaly ok ,,,i will go for spare part sockets ,,but not this year !!

Thx for the Hint !!!

Have to pull an old thread out of the dark since my wifes '97 LT developed the same problem. Thanks to this thread I started searching at the bulb sockets and sure enough the ground connectors on both sides were toast. Since hers is also a Euro spec this might be a problem with Euro spec lights only ?
