I have a 2000 s10 blazer when I turn to start dash lights and radio goes out and the starter click. Has anyone else had this problem please help me.

 

Sounds to me like a dead battery.

Did this problem just start to appear? does it do it randomly or is this the first time?

 

 

Check the battery voltage. Then charge it with a good, slow 12V battery charger. It should get to a 12.6 VDC level or close. That's six cells with 2.1 VDC per cell. Then post what happens when you try to crank it. ...... If it doesn't charge up to the 12.6 VDC level, it may be time for a new battery. Please post what you find.

 

this is the first time with this battery. Battery only three to six months old. Before the problem was at the connection where I had a new battery post connector installed where it corroded

 

Check for voltage at the crank fuse.

 

Check the repair that was done before on the end of the battery cable. Better to replace the entire cable when it is found corroded. Once corroded they keep giving problems.

 

Based on the cable repair I am with Les, my new suggestion is measure the voltage at the cigarette lighter when this happens.

It is often had to determine whether an vehicle electrical problem is the battery or the alternator. Here's a simple to use device that plugs into the 12 VDC socket on the dash. It tells you the voltage with engine off and engine running. If the engine is off and it reads 12.6 VDC or so, the battery is good. With the engine running, you show see more Voltage, say 13.8 to 14.5 for example. That shows the alternator is good. These plug in devices show a digital read out for elec. system and some have also show a read out of amb. air temp. Many have two ports for USB charger to charge your smart phone and tablets while you drive. www.frys.com and amazon and many others sell these devices.
