No power at all - relay?

I was checking the valves out because I thought one was bent. Turns out that wasn't the case, but when I had the upper intake off I decided to try to do a compression test. I also had disconnected pretty much all sensors, distributer, alternator, etc. before hand b/c of something else. I figured it wouldn't really matter as long as there was power, so I connected the positive lead from the battery to the alternator, to the lead going from the alt' to the rest of the vehicle. Got in, turned the key to charge up the fuel pressure, checked for leaks, the got back in and tried to turn it over. Nothing. And not only that, but now there's no power anywhere - nothing. I checked the drivers side fuse box, and all fuses were ok, but I dont know about the relays, or also the relays in the glovebox. Could one of them be causing this? I checked the battery out - it's ok. Could the computer be fried? I have no idea, and I didn't find anything in searches. Any help is greatly appreciated. This is on a 95 W blazer.
Edit: ok - I've been doing some reading on the net and I'm thinking it might be a fusible link, like the one right in-line from the alt to the firewall. its a bit less flexible in one area than the rest, or compared to the one on the pos lead from the battery. Any thoughts?
Edit #2-
I tried to test the fusible links w/o a multimeter b/c I don't have one here. I just touched the lead going from the battery to the alt (pos) to the neg terminal on the battery. There was a spark, so I'm assuming from this that the fusible link there is ok. Next I tried cutting open the wire going from the alt to the firewall and touching the hot wire from the battery to it (bypassing the other fusible), then seeing if there was any power (interior lights). Nothing. Now I read that there is another fusible coming from the starter... could that be it? Or is there something else to check?
Final edit
I figured this one out. There was a problem w/ one of the fusibles.
