Default No power to either window on drivers side

About a month ago my drivers window stopped working. I removed the door panel and found it to be stretched rivets holding the motor to the scissor arm. A quick adjustment made it work flawlessly. However today upon getting into my truck after work in the 90* heat, neither of my drivers side windows would roll down. The passenger side windows both work as normal. Any ideas? Wondering if the symptom of these same-side windows quitting at the same time is a tell-tale sign of anything..

It sure sounds like the drivers door cluster switch to me,when I had erratic operation of windows from the drivers control, but other switches worked fine,I threw in a new(used) cluster, and have had no problems since...

The next morning all windows worked as normal. A few days later I rolled my drivers side window down part way to pay the toll and it hasn't responded since. So I've got a window part way up. Took the trim panel off and banged on the window motor but no luck (which worked for me before) . I can hear a clicking sound at the motor assembly when I push the switch up or down, however the window does not move. I would hit the motor with a hammer a few times, toggle the window switch back and forth a few times, hit it again, toggle, hit, toggle, etc and the window motor got warm during this process. Any ides what this could be? I think I can rule out the drivers cluster switch since I can hear the clicking at the window motor, correct? Must it be the motor itself? Something else?

I've never pulled the hammer fix,but if you may see on my recent posts what my experience has been:replaced the module, worked great for several months, now intermittant up mode-folks here say its the motor, probably correct, but now it has been working fine for a few days,so it's one of those "I'll get to it jobs" but these usually quit when its raining,so thats a bit of a motivation. The clicking you describe sounds like the little gear in the regulator has stripped-the parts are available two ways:motor & regulator,or just the motor. Both cheap... Let us know which way you go. All the best!

Thanks for the information guys. The clicking Im hearing doesnt sound like a stripped gear to me since it is not a constant clicking. Its a single click when I toggle the switch up, or a single click when toggling the switch down. More like the sound a relay makes, but this is a bit more faint and sounds like it is coming from the window motor.

Guess I never updated this but thought i would incase anyone else runs into these symptoms. A new window motor is what solved the problem. The coincidence of both drivers side windows not working seemed to be just that..a random coincidence. Something (like maybe the master switch) may fail in the future but they have continued to work since then as normal.
