Exclamation No shims in upper arm !!!!!

Hello everybody

I am working on the lower and upper control arms and recently I replaced the bushing and ball joints in my 00 2WD Gmc Jimmy but I have a two questions one about the upper control arm shims and other about lower front control arm bolt.

First, I watch a video on how to remove the upper control arm I saw there was multiple shims between the upper control arm shaft and stud but for me when I remove it I couldn't find any shims it was installed without any shims. And second thing about the lower front control arm bolt it was stuck in the inner of front lower bushing and I use hammer to remove it but it wasn't move at all. Also, I used drill to remove the bolt the drill bit damaged and bolt still not removed or even affected finally I used saw plate by hand to cut it and finally it was removed. I go to GM dealership to buy new one and the guy working their told me this is old car and we don't have any parts for it but I will check for you after few minutes he told me they don't have bolt and it was same for the bolt.

#Bolt part Num.11509777
#Upper arm shims part Num.10268933

Anyone know what is thickness of shims I should buy and where I can buy it online. Also, can anyone check for me if their local dealership have the bolt and how much the price of it ?

Thank you

The shims are there for wheel alignment. The thickness depends on how much adjustment is needed. You'll have to take it to an alignment shop and have it done. They should have the shims you need. Is the bolt special, or can you just buy one the same size and grade at a hardware store?

Yes it seems the bolt is special because it won't bend or drilled I think it was designed to handle shocks and vibration while driving so, I don't trust the other types of bolts because most of them are brittle and can be break easily in anytime.

Here is a photo of it

Both sides of my 2002 2WD had 5 shims in the front, two in the back. I doubt GM ran each production car through an alignment shop and put the shims in then so my guess is 5&2 is the stock number of shims.
