Default noise when in gear

I noticed a "rattling, vibrating" noise when the engine is running and only in gear. Sounds as if its coming from under the dash but not sure. When i put it in park or neutral the rpms come up a bit and it stops making that noise. Put it back in gear again and the noise comes back. Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

Similar sounds have been discussed before. There is a technical service bulletin that details such a noise with a potential cause being PCV valve noise transmitted into the cabin by either the cruise and/or throttle cable resting on the PCV hose to the intake manifold.

Thumbs up

Thanks so much! it was one of those cables resting on my pcv valve. All i did was run my brake booster hose between the two. That noise drove me nuts. Actually now that i think about it it did kinda sound like valve train noise. Thanks so much again! Merry Christmas!

Glad it was something so simple! Many people have commented that this type of noise is like a plastic gear stripping past another gear inside the dash. In the end, it is a quick easy check even if it doesn't turn out to be the PCV valve noise. No money spent!
