Default Ohhh no, whats wrong with my brakes!

We got our first snow fall here, about 2 inches so it was enough to get the roads snowy. I tried out my 4x4 for the first time (actually using it for its purpose) and worked wonderfully. I then decided when I was going about 25 to slam on my brakes to see how they worked in slick conditions. Well I was surprised on what it did. When I slammed on the brakes I heard some kind of motor working or somthing coming from the front (probably around the brake area) and then the brake pedal started to push back and was very hard to push on the brakes. Its hard to believe this would be cuased by abs braking.

This should be normal. I have the same vehicle and tried this out a couple days ago and as long as the brakes don't do a complete to the floor item after use you are fine...

That sounds like ABS to me. I can't recall the pedal feeling like it was pushing back but the noise is quite normal.

Yes it is completely normal. Each vehicle will behave differently with an ABS system depending on how it was engineered to work...

Whenever you are gonna hit the brakes hard enough on the snow and Ice it gonna do it. When I do hear that sound or feel it than i try to let up a little on the brake( if I have room to) usually is better.

try slamming the brakes with the ABS fuse removed.

I noticed the rearend overtakes the front in the right conditions.
