Default oil filter location

Hi,

I am a newby to this forum. I have a '99 blazer 4x4 four door with a 4.3. The oil filter is located right where I want to mount my winch. I'm sure there is a good reason for locating it remotely but I don't know what it is. Is it possible to mount the filter on the block and then run the coolant lines to the radiator?

Thanks,
Norm

I believe there is a way to mount the oil filter right to the block
