Question Oil leaking in my ashtray!?

Well I use my ashtray as a change holder in my 96 2 door Blazer LS with 4wd. Lately I've been noticing my change getting very oily. Well today when I went to reach in the ashtray my fingers were covered with what looks like engine oil. Now I am the only one who drives this truck and I service it myself. It hasn't had any service done in about 3 months. This started maybe a month ago. I did a search and nothing... I tried looking up with a flash light and there's a metal plate in the way. Before I start tearing into things. Does anyone know what this could be?
