Oil Lines, Oil Filter Housing Need Replaced... Mieneke says almost $700
Went it today with a coupon for an oil change. Oil, filter, fluids, etc for $24. Should have taken half an hour, in and out.
Unfortunately, they noticed the housing the filter screws into had broken off:
Apparently, its hanging by the hoses, and every I go over a bump, it tugs the hoses, causing a leak... like this:
And therefore, spraying oil everywhere... like this:
They quoted me almost $700 to fix it:

I went next door to the part store and they said they could get me the hoses for about $60 each, but didn't carry the housing and even if they did, it'd be hella expensive. The manager recommended I go to the scrap yard and get the housing for $10-15 and do the work myself.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how hard is this to do on a blazer?
I got under it and looked at it, and it doesn't look too bad, really. Remove the black plastic shroud/cover. Remove the hoses. Take out bad housing, and install a new one. One hose from the housing to just above the differential. And install the second hose.
Anyone ever do this before? Any thoughts? I looked for a build/DIY thread but couldn't find one.

It isn't that difficult of a job. Finding a good housing at a parts yard might prove difficult though.
The lines to the engine block can be fun if the engine mounts have sagged over the years. Nothing a jack, block of wood, and a few feet of extensions with a wobble extension on the end can't cure.

A good one would not be broken at the mounting bolt locations.

Is there a reason I can't seem to find one online? (Autozone, Auto Parts Warehouse, etc)
All I can find are kits the move the mounting point lower, but not the entire part.

some stuff they just dont have aftermarket support. its basically a non moving part that shouldnt wear or even break, kinda like a steering knuckle, i doubt they sell those at autozone. you can try the dealer but yeah doubt its going to be cheap

No problem, the oil filter housing, called an adapter by GM, is part number 10236272.
I deal with www.gmpartscenter.net and I just looked it up and its $54.32. They ship Fed Ex for free but charge a order fee like six/seven bucks.

I don't know what year your blazer is, but here's an example of the prices you can get on rockauto.com..... These are for mine (yours may be the same). You could DIY a LOT cheaper.

And I notice there's no washer where that ear is broken off... is it GM that caused it.. or some dumas in his driveway. When you mount your new one make sure there's an oversized flat washer under that nut.
