Open Vacuum Line

Default Open Vacuum Line

I had to replace the short piece of vacuum line by the master cylinder at the tee that goes down to the line into the vacuum reservoir. My problem is I didn't notice if the line going off to the right was plugged into anything. It doesn't look like it was, and I can't find any ports it could have come off of. Is it just a vent or something? Thanks

it either goes to the vacum ball that should be there or to the transfer case

Do your vents work? It may go to the vacuum canister if the fenderwell & from there they run to the HVAC controls. At least on my '02 that's where the vacuum canister/ball is.

Thanks guys. I finally found it. There's a nipple molded into the plastic panel (part of the vacuum canister?) under the ABS controller but it's recessed so the end of the nipple is flush with the panel. I would have never found it without loosening the ABS controller so I could nudge it out of the way a little. Even then I needed to use my inspection mirror to make sure what I thought I was feeling was the port.

Well, test drive tells me either that wasn't the right place or I have another leak somewhere. What started this was my service 4WD light would come on and I noticed it always seemed to do it when I moved the accelerator pedal, so I assumed it was vacuum related.
I have the NVG236 xfer case (RPO NP8) and I have replaced the actuator under the battery.
The vents take about 20 seconds to respond to a change.
Is there vacuum going to the NVG236 transfer case or is it completely electronic?

The vacuum line sounds like it is exactly where it is supposed to be. I had a problem with my 4wd not engaging and it was because that exact piece of hose wasn't connected to the little vacuum "ball" (not actually a ball i don't believe) in the fender

on my truck a vacum line runs under the battery tray to pull it in four wheel drive. so make sure the line is hooked up rite

I made sure all of that was good when I replaced the actuator...thx
