Default Opening back hatch from inside??

Can someone tell me on say a 96-00 year 4 door Blazer is it possible to open the back hatch from the inside? Im thinking of getting one and using it to camp/sleep in and would like to be able to open the back hatch and not always crawl in/out through the back seat door. Is there a quick n easy mod maybe to do this?

there should be a button on the dash board that under where the 4x4 selector would be that says rear hatch you hit the button and should hear a click in the rear this means you can open the hatch even without getting out mines a 2001 but it should be the same

fuse may have went bad. I had a similar problem my motor was working but when I took it apart the little arm on it to unlatch the gate was broken (made of plastic). I used a little screw in metal hook in what was left of the plastic has been working good ever since

Uh Ooo. Carefully pull back the interior panel near the center mound. About three sixteenth is enough. Get a long allen wrench and push down on the latch in front of the window loop. Drop the tailgate; remove the whole panel and look for a loose wire or a broke actuator arm (i think its blue) Good luck.
