Hello all-
What all is involved in removing the outside door mirrors?

Too easy!!!!!! Remove your door panel and look on the inside where your mirror is. There will be three threaded studs that are molded into your mirror. Remove the nuts off of those and voila. . . you just removed your mirror. Obviously reverse steps to install the new one.

 

Thanks! Is it just clips holding it on? Or is there any other hardware?

 

The door panel pops off with the exception of two screws at the handle... it's not rocket science.
A piece of advice: Go down to your favorite auto parts store and buy the replacement plastic retainers that hold the door panel on... buy the big pack of them.

 

and to get the nuts off use a 10mm deep socket.

 

I second that. You never know how old those things are and there is nothing more frustrating than popping off your door to see that two or three broke and then you have to go down to the autoparts store. They are pretty self-explainatory as far as installation once you see them. It is $2.99 well spent when you realize the headache that it saves you.

I knew it was pretty easy just didnt want to be suprised.

 

The panel was really easy to take off. But the door panel is causing me a lot of grief t take completely off - i need it off to get to the release for the power mirror cord

 

If you pull on your handle as if you were opening the door you can slide the door panel to the rear of the vehicle and then up and off of the handle. Make sure you unplug any power accessories (i.e. power mirrors, power locks etc.) so you don't mess those up taking the door panel off.

 

Hey nice thread. Def came in handy when I walked out to my truck this morning and my mirror housing was bent towards the front of the truck with no mirror in it! That's what I get for parking on the street I guess. Damn scumbags can't even leave a note.
