Well it rained all day today. The blazer is running really good. Nice change from almost 5 months of aggravation. My best guess was cleaning the cam sensor inside the distributor was what my problem was. The crank sensor gets oil on it being in the front cover of the engine so it probably didnt do much to clean it up. I had a rattling cat but it didnt fix the misfire problem when I changed it. I have 163000 on the engine so the spider injection should be changed out. Im going to wait till fall for that. Thanks to all that posted on this issue Mike

well i still have no luck here..............starting to HATE this vehicle with passion. its gettin sooooo bad that i cant even go anywheres until it shifts into 2 or 3rd gear because on take off at a stop light it wont hardley move just sputters cuts up and jerks soo bad i just want to set it on fire. after it shifts from 1-2 i can punch the gas to the floor and it wont cut out at all. after it shifts into overdrive and u stay at a speed it misses but u give it gas hard its FINE. its a biggest pain ive ever owned in my life i have owned geo metros better than this hunk

How does it run with the MAF sensor disconnected? Cleaning the MAF sensor with compressed air is a sure fire way to break it. Electronic parts cleaner and some TLC is all that it needs.

The MAF sensor is located in the intake pipe. The MAP sensor is located on the passenger side of the intake manifold between the throttle body and the distributor.

The MAP sensor may be bad.

By disconnecting a sensor like the MAP, MAF, or upstream O2's, the PCM will go into open loop operation where it uses a lot of preset fuel/spark maps which can cause an engine to run better if the PCM were getting bad signals from some of these sensors.

Already explained that when explaining why it runs better. You could have a problem with the wiring or even the PCM. To just replace the sensor without troubleshooting it first is a good way to waste money. And the only way to really trouble shoot it is to have a scan tool capable of watching sensor values.

Default Scan tool capable of watching sensor values

Which Scan tool do you recommend for watching Sensor values? Are the ones sold at autozone capable of watching the values? When I unpluged the MAF sensor the only issue I noticed was the car shifted hard between gears.
