Smile P0300 Random Misfire

First and foremost I want to say thank you to Captain Hook for his advise, suggestions and help.

I have used this forum to research items and issues with my 95 Blazer, 00 Jimmy and my dad's 97 Jimmy.

My dad's jimmy started throwing the P0300 code. Running terrible. He said it had been many years since a tune up so I thought that would be the first thing to do. New plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor. Running a little better but within a few mintues back to the same rough running. Changed out the coil, same issue. Checking on this forum and gettting some input from the Capt I checked the fuel pressure. Pressure went up to 55 but began to drop almost right away down to 20.

The Capt then suggested I check the fuel pressure from the tank at the fuel filter. He gave me some ideas on fabricating a hookup for my fuel pressure gauge. Pressure from the pump was only about 98 and dropped to 55 or so. Pump was ok but technically failed. This determined the issue was at the engine and the injector system. While I was under there I replaced the fuel filter and fixed the quick connection.

When I open the top of the manifold to get at the injector system the cavity for the large plug was filled with gas and gas was present in the manifold. Installed a new injector system and buttoned everything up. Checked the fuel pressure again at the check valve and pressure was 60 and dropped to about 50 to 55 but held. MY GOSH SHE Started right up. Engine was racing then almost died and realized the PVC elbow was broken. After replacing that the thing idled so smooth I did not know it was running.

Now that it is back on the road the next step is to tackle the fuel pump. That will be a little later. I need time to rest from this one.

Again thank you all for the help especially Capt. Hook
