sorry to clarify 60psi before trying to crank it i wrote it down for reference

 

Well was just out to the blazer again it is popping from the throttle body , it almost caught , But that's it for tonight snow squalls not fun to work in.. Of course it couldn't have quit at home , had to be on the road

 

oh yes and it is a new cap rotor wires and plugs all a/c delco

Popping from the throttle body while cranking is usually a timing issue.

Couple of things to check:

Make sure the cap is wired correctly, easy to transpose #1 and #3 on the cap. This image shows cylinder orientation and plug wire location on the cap:




Also, check for spark leakage to ground around the ignition coil while cranking. Easiest to check when it's dark out

 

thanks will check, But the truck was running good after putting wires cap rotor and plugs
cant figure why it stalled, And being my age gotta ask how do i edit a post

 

try some ether in the air intake and see if it fires.. so you can pin a fuel problem.. pull the distributer cap to see if there is moisture or ice inside since it is cold.. if you cut the pipe in front of the cat that should eliminate that problem.. as long as it is the first one from the front.. has a cat and a resonator can.. either one can be old and clogged up.. I had all of these issues and any of these could be it.. and a good battery could help.. Good luck

 

It's not the cat.. when the cat plugs up it creates excessive back pressure. After it shuts off and sits for a few minutes the pressure is relieved and it will start again. Sounds like a fuel pump is in your future.

 

In the same box that your post is in, over on the right side, there are two buttons: one says "EDIT", and one says "QUOTE" If you click the "EDIT" button, it will bring up your post and you can add to it. After editing, there is a button that says "SAVE", click it, done

 

Ok so I have fuel spark and it really wants to start where do I go from here? pressure is good fuel pump running it wants to catch but just falls short

 

One at a time release the pressure on the distributor cap screws and try to wiggle it.


If the cap moves you have a cracked hold down female side.


If that is the case you can repair it with JD weld or get a new one from White for $50
