Parking brake would not release
My parking brake would not release when I pull the handle, I have the feeling that the handle bottoms before releasing the pedal mechanism.
The pedal released quickly before so I think the wire back to the wheels are OK.
Is there anyone who has had any similar problems?
The car is a -98

Assuming You are talking about a Blazer or a Jimmy.....if you check under the dash behind the side foot kicker panel (no screws just pop out & pop in on a '99 Jimmy anyway), you can get down in there & see Your cable for the release mechanism & @ the end of it is a little ball all the way towards the firewall that can be pulled out of the grove by/with small needle nose pliers. There is where You are looking @ the release cable, check that all out & it's function before getting overly involved, "process of elimination" has to start somewhere!
my e brake release would not release and the cable came out of the groove that holds it in, crawl down there and look for the cable and the thing its supposed to be hooked to and it will be just hanging out there put it back in the groove and slightly bend the hook so it will hold the cable from poping out, it fixed mine took about a minute
So what's the next step? My parking brake got stuck on last week. I could get to the lever the release cable pulls on and push it all the way to its stop and the pedal would still not release. I'm afraid I'll need to replace whole pedal assembly (if it's available as a replacement unit).
thanks...
P.S. I forgot to add that my truck has the automatic release connected to the shifter - it doesn't work either.
