Default Parts interechangeability...

Looking at a 2000 Blazer with less miles than my 97 but in rougher shape. The things it needs my 97 can't donate;but the parts my 97 needs:cat converter, fuel filler neck assy,Front ABS sensors,O2 sensors. Are those interchangable back to the 97? The owner claims its in "perfect shape"(its not) and needs nothing (it does) They are selling it as a running driving vehicle and want $650 for it and I want it for parts only,so that price seems about $200 too high even after I strip it and sell the motor/trans then scrap the hulk. Any input/advice appreciated.

Provided they're both 2WD or both 4WD, the hubs are the same. The only thing you might run into is the 97 had an early and a late hub assembly. The 2000 hub will fit the late design of the 97 only. Don't try to replace just the ABS sensors. If both are 2 door or both 4 door, the filler neck should be the same, fuel cap might be different though. Converters are NOT interchangeable. Oxygen sensors will be the same, but the connectors and wire length might be different.

The sensor needs to have a specific air gap between the sensor and the tone ring. Each sensor is fitted with shims during assembly so it will have the correct air gap. If the gap is too close, the sensor will be destroyed when the wheel turns. If the gap is too large, the sensor will not generate a signal.

AH Bingo! Learned something here, makes sense too. I passed on the so called "donor unit" I will not spend more than $500 on a parts unit either-my only distress is that the 96-97 parts are drying up in my area, and I am not going to take on a beat 2000 to try to rectify the situation,as I have already been through THREE parts cars for my 97! I am at a loss now as all my personal stock is fairly much used up and all the units in this area are already stripped clean! It IS a 16 old car...It may be time to retire it,while it delivers 22 mpg and NEVER fails,I kind of like it...

Never Fails! 22 mpg! Crazy to retire. They would have tossed me with the trash along time ago. Play with the front sensors enough and you will get it. Find a cheap weld in cat and a South of the Border shop to weld it. Chinese e-bay o2's $17.95, plug and play. Filler neck, grind the rust around then some acid prep and wrap with glass and resin. Case of non-alcoholic beer for me, whatever you drink and two bills in parts.
I will be in Deal for a week around X-mas

Sorry just looked on the map...........Long swim.
