OK guys I really need some help here. I've been trying to fix my truck for a while. It cut off on me driving down the road one day and wouldn't restart. I tested the fuel pressure and it would jump up to 60 and them bleed completely down in a few seconds. I finally traced it to the fuel spider so I just got done replacing it. My fuel pressure not holds over 40 for 30 minutes so I think OK I've got it. I go to start the truck and finally after turning over for a while it started, but all it will do is surge between 200 - 1000 rpms. Pushing the gas pedal basically has no effect but to slightly raise the rpms's. It dupms a ton of smoke out of the exhaust and I can hear small backfires. So what did I do wrong???? I got the BWD kit from advancea and according to the directions the tubes go 1,3,5 on one side and 2,4,6 on the other so I don't know how I could have messed that up. Even if it were two tubes out of place would that casuse this problem?

OK so I'm getting the 60psi for cranking, but after checking the fuel pressure with the engine barely running the pressure doesn't drop off it's bouncing from 58 to 60 psi while running. The spider came with a brand new FPR already installed so I'm lost. Is that what could be causing this????

Crossing up the spiders could cause problems. Are there any codes? but if you have 58-60 psi maybe it is not fuel.

The injectors should go in order from front to back. If you had a few of them swapped, it could cause the condition you are experiencing.

You didn't do anything with the distributor when you replaced the spider did you?

Thanks for the advice guys. I don't think I could have swithched the injectors they go in order from front to back so the position could pretty much only be put in one way. Is there any way to test this without pulling the whole intake back off? Is there a sensor I didn't hook back up that could cause this? Vaccum leak? I didn't mess with the distributer. I did unhook the plug wires on one side to get to the fuel lines, but I've already checked their positions and their correct.

Just to give you a little info all these parts have been replaced in the last 6 months. Intake manifold gasket, Entire distributer including cap and rotor, plugs and wires, fuel pump, and a few of the sensors.

No, there really isn't a way to test it... Its visual

You may want to remove the plug at the top of the spider and make sure that none of the pins are bent out of position.

Yeah I'm getting spark. If I have fuel and spark I know usually it would be a timing issue, but I havent messed with the distributer since the intake manifold gasket replacement 6 months ago. It just cut off while driving?

A compression test will let you know if the valve train is still in proper time.
