Default Poor Traction in Rear Wheels...

I have a 2001 two-door 2WD. I have 2 brand new rear tires...but whenever the roads are even slightly wet, my tires spin like crazy when I have to jump on the gas. It's getting to be pretty dangerous because it's hard to get up to speed...it's almost like I'm on ice. I've even had the rear end fishtail around on freeway on-ramps. Any ideas why this may be?

What kind of tires did you go with? The tire compound is probably pretty hard, making it skate around...

And what pressure did you put in them?

Also if theyre brand new, the lubricant/oils used in the tire making process take a few hundred miles to work out. My tires came with a warning about the first break in period and possible loss of traction.

I'm not sure the exact model...just some basic Goodyear truck tires. I usually run my tires at about 4 or 5 lbs less than the psi suggested on the tire due to the expansion when the tires heat up.

I'm going to get snow tires for this winter...is it worth it to get all four or just the rear?

Put some weight in back till you break them in, and/or maybe burn'em out a bit, get the top layer to soften up. try that, I know their new but I'm sure it won't kill'em.

You can try scrubbing down the tires with good car wash to get the production oils off. Most likely if they are basic they are a poor traction hard compound.
