Default Power seats--something else to go wrong.

2000 Blazer w/ power seats stopped working. Heater and lumbar work. Have power to the switches on the seat. Chilton says that there is a relay and fuse under the hood, but I can only find a fuse for the heated seats according to the fuse map under the cover. Do I have to pull the seats?, because I will have to grind out the torx bolt that holds the seat in place.(stripped out) Another question is if there is a manual override for the power seats because my wife likes to sit on the steering wheel to drive, and unfortunately that is where the seat is stuck. Thanks.

The power seats are on a circuit breaker in the front edge of the I/P fuse block (left side accessable with the door open). There is no overide, but did it quit working in ALL directions or just 2 of the functions? If only 2 are inop, it's probably a motor or a switch, if ALL power adjuster functions quit (fore-aft, up-down..etc..) than you have a loss of power supply or ground. It's common to see the wires chaffed on the outer edge of the seat frame close to the switch, which will trip the breaker and cause all funtions to quit. Keep me posted and we'll figure it out.

EDIT...welcome to the forum, and that riding close to the steering wheel is very dangerous...if she gets into a collision and the air bag deploys, it could injure her badly or even kill her. You should discourage it...IMO.

Well thank you so much for the input. All directions have stopped working in BOTH SEATS. I will look again for a fuse in the inside panel. I did not find anything before. As for my wife sitting on the steering wheel, the position suits her fine but I am a little thicker in the middle than she is. It does make me a little nervous when I am driving. I would really like to get the seat moved.

You're welcome, but like I said it's not a fuse, but a circuit breaker (silver-colored,rectangular-shaped, about 3-4 times the size of a minifuse).....should be labeled "power seats" or just "seats".
