Default Power window problem.

I know that I am a newb and this topic has probably been discussed many times. I am just not willing to spend the hours to find it. I have a 1999 Blazer 4dr. It is a great little truck. I am a Ski Patroller and it has gone anywhere I have asked. I have 189k miles. I have had all of the water pump and alternator issues. I have a very hard shift from 2nd to 3rd when the Trans. gets hot. The whole nine yards. I even had a squirrel build a nest on top of the intake over a 3 day weekend. You would not believe how many acorns a critter can move in a weekend.

Now to the issue. The drivers power window seems to work whenever it decides. It used to be that it would get stuck in the up position. Not a huge problem. After a few hundred miles it would decide to work again. Today it decided to stick in the almost down position. It is Winter. I need to get the window up. This has been happening for the last few years. It has just never been stuck near the down position. What is the problem?

2002 with same miles and same problem. On other cars I have had good luck cleaning the contacts but sometimes it is just a broken wire.

Usually on these units it means the driver switch cluster is toast(as moisture falls in on this switch everytime in rain or snow) While it may be mechanical I have found it to be usually the cluster that causes this issue 9 out of 10-buy a used pod from a yard first(offer them $5 in New England or like climates) See what happens! Then buy a new one and put ventshades on your S10! Won't happen again! Good luck! step66

On the back side of switch panel, you are looking for dark blue and brown wires. Locs A and E if they are marked. Those go directly to motor. The problem could also be in the express down module.

I had a dead Driver window also, removed door panel and was able to move the window with voltage from jumper wires. I replaced switch assembly (used on E-bay) and all is well again.
