Default Power window trouble

I just got a 98 Blazer. The drivers side window goes about 1/4 way down and then stop and makes a sound like the gear is stuck, you can give it a little push and it will go down about half way and repeat the previous problem, then at about 3/4 and so on. It does the same when putting it up. Is this a stripped gear on the motor? I know they're not expensive, but I don't want to waste money either if that's not the problem.
Thanks,
Jeff

i'd vote a stripped gear NOT on the motor itself but where it connects, if it was on the motor you would have it "skip" and grab again to continue on its way when its passed the missing teeth. the fact it stays when it hits that point proves the gear somewhere else has chewed a few teeth off.

Yeah, I'd say it is something stripped on the regulator.

Thanks guys,...Regulator seems to be the most popular answer I've gotten. I reckon I'll look into changing that.
