pulling engine without a torque converter cover shield

I'm having trouble pulling my engine because i don't have a torque converter shield as in i cannot separate the torque converter from the driveplate because there is no access to it. does anyone have any suggestions?

there should be a cover under the truck to expose the flywheel. its called a inspection plate. remove it and u will need to use a wrench to remove the tourqe convertor bolts from flywheel.

i mean there is no inspection plate... like the bell housing is 360 degrees... cast all the way around the torque converter

yes it comes off about halfway up.

all i have is a hole about the size of a silver dollar. which is pretty much useless because you can't get to the torque converter bolts through it. there is no half cover like most transmissions

This is what my tranny is likehttp://image.gmhightechperformance.c...ansmission.jpg

ouch. ya i would say that you will need to remove tranny first then.

no you should just be able to remove the starter and take your flexplate bolts out through that opening.

:icon_emm: no u take the 2 13 or 14mm bolts out the starter move that out of the way then remove the plate under the starter with 2 8 or 10mm tiny lil bolts and through the hole in your bellhousing on the bottom stick a flathead in the flexplate to hold it while u crack the bolts loose and use the flathead also to spin the flexplate to get the bolts where u need them to remove then just remove the 3 13 or 14mm bolts that hold the torque converter to the flexplate simple as that all by yourself

This is correct, I just did it 2 days ago.
