Hi I have a1998 Chevy blazer with the 4.3 l vtech in it I would like to know how to bleed the cooling system on it because there is a bolt on the thermstat houseing and I would like to know if that is the bleed screw if not then how to do it and should the coolent circulate when the engine is just ideling or only when you give it gas thank you for any replys back

Although i do not have a '98 to look at, I do not know of any bleed screw on the thermostat housing....sounds like an aftermarket or incorrect replacement.

The cooling system is somewhat self bleeding but air can get trapped. Usually normal driving around will get the air out.

Might try parking on an incline after engine has come up to temp, let engine idle for a few minutes, and then with a towel around this bleed screw, just crack it open until coolant begins to come out, then tighten it backup. BUT there is a turning fan that will cut through an arm, so CAUTION is required.

 

I would not touch that screw for anything. Park the vehicle up an incline with the right side tire higher than the rest. Then open the cap and run vehicle and fill till full.
