Figured that was the way to get the panel off..

Back to the fuse:

AB- Most def. tried to shift back to 2HI with the fuse in, did nothing. Pressed it a gazillion times too, read that on a previous post.

I'm hoping the battery and cleaning of TCCM will work, I'm going to try that at 5 when I get off.

Still open for other suggestions.

your best bet, is also the crappiest solution:

drive it around until the light pops back on and get your TCCM read :(

that will be the best way since it will pint you to the actual problem which in turn will show you the solution...

I'm just hopeing with the other little tricks you can convice your TC to drop back out of 4lo...

See, that's another thing. I dont have anything to get the TCCM read. Is there some manual way I can do this or do I need to purchase some equipment or just head to a mechanic ( which is gonna be hard driving in 4lo, dont wanna tear the front end up with a turn on the asphalt.

yes: manually drive it to the shop you called that said they DO have a tech II scanner that can talk to your TCCM. You should be out like an hour's labor fee OR what ever the diagnostics cost...

as for the 4lo thing... there is no easy way out there... just go 10 mph in the ditch beside the road :o

cross your fingers when you do the battery trick and hope to God your TCEM isn't bound up...

OK. I tried everything. Multiple times. Unhooked the battery for 30 mins. Tried the fuse trick. I got nothing result wise.

While I had the battery taken out, I looked underneath the battery tray for a hose I had read about on the forum. I followed one up to this:

I then followed the top hose, bottom hose in above picture, I followed it to a split in the picture below:

After looking around this for a while I followed the hose going to the right on the passenger side (hose going south in picture above) and after giving it a small tug, I found it was connected to....drumroll.......NOTHING

I looked and looked and couldnt find where this hose should connect to. I CAN say that I tried pressing the 2hi (four button) while putting my finger on the end of this unconnected hose and it was sucking air...HARD.

So, if anyone could direct me where this hose goes, or what my next step should be...AND if you could tell me if you think this is the solution to my problem, that'd be great!

hey man. i just went outside and looked my truck. 1998 3 button switch, that hose goes to a fitting on the fender. hope you get it figured out

Fender? Do I have to remove any components to get to it? I looked all around on the driverside and couldn't find a fitting that would connect with that hose??

Passenger side? Brake controller looks like driver side to me anyhow...... There shouldn't be a hose sucking air, that may not be the entire problem but it WILL stop the 4WD from working. (bet the heater controls were kinda wonky too) On a 2000 the mysterious hose going into the drivers fender went to a vacuum reservoir. Put a little screw or bolt in that hose and block it off, things can only get better.
