quick question....

ok. i have a 98 blazer with a 4 inch lift and 31x10.5 tires. my situation is when im doing 55 behind another car, and we go uphill. to retain the 55mph, you obviously gotta give it some gas. but, my truck will got to 1800 rpm, (where it would usually be) then just drop to 1000 rpm. BUT, if i get on it and go to pass the other car, it has no lag at all and actually hauls some a$$.
question is... what is causing this lag??
i have a feeling it may be the ecu. i think a reprogrammed one would let the auto lock tourqe converter shift more effiecently...
or is this typical for the locking tourque converter?
can anyone please chime in on this???

If you have a scanner that can view operating data I'd turn the key on (don't start it) and work the gas slowly and watch the throttle opening %. Make sure there's no "jumps" or "hangs". I'm guessing maybe the low end of the Throttle Position Sensor is getting flaky?
