Hey guys, I have a 2000 LS, 123,000 miles. Having a random no start issue. Runs really good, no codes, but on random mornings it just wont fire. Even after turning the key forward for a prime and letting it sit a moment. This happens maybe once a month. Seems to be a flooding issue not an ignition issue. Fuel pump was replaced at 95,000 about 4 years ago, genuine ACDelco with new fuel lines and filter. Chances of it being the spider ? Im just not getting the fact that i can let it sit for days and it fires right up, but then one random day after what seems to be a short trip it will surprise me.

So when this happens the starter will crank but the truck will not run, correct?

Do you have any codes? Can you red CMP retard with a capable scan tool?

Intermittent problems need to be caught in the act so you need to travel with test capability. A truck that cranks but will not start and run has a problem with Fuel, spark, timing or air. The one thing that you can check beforehand is fuel pressure and leak down which you can test according to the sticky. If thats OK then at the next event check for 1" of strong blue spark at 2 or more ignition wires at the plug ends with a regular cadence. If thats OK check fuel pressure before and during cranking. If thats OK try clear flood mode where you start it with the gas pedal to the floor which turns off the fuel injectors to tell you if they are leaking at a standstill causing a flooded start condition. If thats OK then we will measure fuel injector pulses (do you have any security light issues).
