Took the 02 4.3 out for a nice cruise today, on the way back the service engine light came on so I called the used car guy. he says to bring it to my shop and he will pay for the repair.

i totally dropped the plastic skid plate because it was broken in many places. after changing the oil i looked at the skid plate and it said to keep it installed for engine cooling. has anyone deleted the plate and has it affected opertion of the engine.

Removing the skid plate on the 4x4 models can have an effect on the engine cooling, but depending on your type drivng, it might not. Still, I recommend replacing it.
Also, you would do well to get a Chilton or Haynes service manual from an auto supply store and an owner's manual from eBay.
