realistic life expectancy...
Hey! I found a 96 Jimmy 3 years ago stuffed between 2 wood piles on 4 flats-199K So I paid $500 figuring I might get 1 winter out of it...well the sucker is still running @ 225k-3 years later! ALL components are original:driveline,shocks,exhaust system(!),u-joints,lower ball joints. The usual wear items were replaced to keep it road worthy. It is a NH vehicle so it is RUSTY underneath,however the unit has no exterior perforation,and is a presentable 50 footer. I now live in a state where tin worm is no longer an issue; but just how much more time do I have on this jimmy? My thoughts are to replace this unit with a later model. Just how far has anyone seen these blazers go? The best I ever got was 360K out of a C-30 I bought new in 84. Any opinions/thoughts? Thanks Step 66

As long as some preventative was perfromed on it, it can keep going for awhile. You will have some repairs soon enough if the shocks, exaust and ball joints are original. I would be very suprised if it it had its original exaust being that it was in NH since 96 with those miles. Also if it truely has the stock shocks they by now would be doing about nothing at those miles and age. If where it was in NH had good roads then the ball joints might keep going for a little longer. Most of the mechanics around me have to change out blazer ball joints at about 50k due to are terrible roads in ME.

A member just posted the other day that his 95 was at 254k miles and running strong. He predicted that he will make it to 300k. These trucks will last if you take care of them.

Well, my 95 still LOOKED new, for the most part.
It had fuel injector issues, more than once.
And the tranny had an "overdrive shudder" for yeeaarrrrs. The shudder was finally starting to get worse. Then, I knew it was time to trade up(while the dealer didn't detect the shudder!).

I am approaching 400kon my 89 S15 Jimmy, but I have replaced engine and transmission, had it painted, any wear item has been replaced at one time or another. It is my DD and runs great looks great and no rust.

My 1995 Blazer is at approx 325,000kms:
Original Engine,frame,body,interior.
Everything else replaced.
Course i baby the hell outta it and it still looks quite new,except for the rust starting by the rearwiper.
