Default Rear axel shaft lock

Any suggestions on removing the rear axle shaft lock on 04 zr2 with locking differential. I haven't been able to move the axle in far enough to remove the lock.

Are your side gears moving towards the center of the differential with your axle when you push it in? They shouldn't move that much, but you could try to push them back towards the outside if they do.
