Hi,
Right rear seal leak started this adventure. Pulled the axle, and I'm puzzled by seeing what looks like a seal between the bearing and the differential...about 3" in from the face of the axle tube. In other words, from the hub in towards the differential, I have a seal, then the bearing and a bit further in, what looks like and feels like another seal. I don't see that on any parts diagrams.
The axle is shiny in three separate places.
I'll be replacing the axle, but I'm wondering what's going on here?
Truck has 200K, and I don't know what kind of service history it has. From the looks of things, it has a history of neglect!
I'll try to get a pic of the end of the tube that shows the "inner seal".

 

Aha! It's from a "repair bearing"...wonder how long that lasted? My daughter bought it last December, and it wasn't leaking then...but less than a thousand miles on it since, and it's leaking a lot now.
New axle/bearings/seals in the AM. $150...I could have got it cheaper, but I like my local independent parts store, who I've done business with for 50 years!
