Default Rear Brake Job, does this sound right?

2.6 Hours of labor : $160
Rear Disc Rotor : $60
Rear Calipers : $71
Rear Pads $106

So around $400 ($375 with a student discount)

BTW when I went in for the free inspection, the rear brake rotors were black/rusty because they hadn't been used in so long

All seems right except for the 106 dollar pads. But I guess it depends on what theyre using. Standard pads at NAPA are about 30 dollars. But for all the work you had done, Id say you werent taken advantage of.

as i have learned , garages tend to mark up parts a significant amount. sometimes even double their cost. your garage probaly had it done and an hour and a half, rotors probaly cost them about 17 dolars a piece. calipers are about right. pads were maybe 20$. depending on how mechanicly inclined you are you probaly could have done the job yourself for about half that price and the satisfaction of saving a few bucks.

It all depends what parts went on your truck "factory or aftermarket"
I have worked in the parts dept in GM dealerships for the past 30 years

depending on where you live in the united states ( I live on the east coast)

parts prices have not been cost x 2 for at least 15 years unless you go to a real fly by night repair place.

A local mechanic will do it for $60 less but I'm 220 miles from home and don't really want to drive that far on just front brakes
